Summer Activities in Telluride, Colorado
Our athletic visitors enjoy the assortment of court sports available through the Town of Telluride’s Parks and Recreation department. In town, you’ll find courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball, and playing fields for soccer, softball, hockey, and skating rinks.
For the little ones, in Town Park you’ll find a toddler playground near the kid’s pond that has a climbing area for children ages five and up. The kids may also want to stop at Imagination Station playground, a community built playground, which is open year-round.
There’s also a kid’s fishing pond, where fishers must be ages 12 or older, and there is a four trout limit. Fishing rods are available to rent out for free at the Information Center.
The courts and sports arenas include, two horse shoe pits, two tennis courts, two outdoor sand volleyball courts, one outdoor basketball court, and a skateboarding and trick bike riding park. You may rent equipment through the summer by using a driver’s license as collateral. Items you may rent include basketballs, footballs, Frisbees, soccer balls, softballs and bats, tennis racquets and balls, and volleyballs.
Most courts operate on a first-come first-serve basis but you can make reservations for the tennis courts starting the third Friday in May through the last Friday in September. The courts can be reserved for one hour for singles and an hour and a half for doubles starting at 7 a.m. or as late as 8:30 p.m.
